How To: Dark Eye Shadow.

really. lets be honest, all art is basically the same. painting a wall? panting your face? SAME. so you wanna do dark eye shadow do you. well let me tell you how. its just 5 steps...

1. 1st base. this coat is all about crease prevention. Remember how at the end of the day your eye shadow puddles in the eye crease.  What? don't deny it. Best thing I have found for me? This.
I love this. really it makes my make-up magical. it never leaves and it crates an even canvas. So the shadow spreads like butter. yum. If you cant go get it today, use liquid foundation over your lids.

2. Highlight. Some people think if you have light skin you need a whiter highlight and if you have tan skin you need a nuder highlight. Good rule, sure, but I think you need both no matter what color your skin is. Basically all you need today is a nuder highlighter for dark eye shadow, you still want contrast but not so stark you look like a drag queen. no. no. no.
ex. nuder (MAC "Naked lunch") whiter ( MAC " Shroom")

3. 2nd base. Me? I like to use a color under my dark shadow. why? It helps it be even steven, and not the Shia Labeouf kind. Another thing, shimmer spreads better. If your dark color is matte that's great, it will go well over a shimmer. If its a shimmer, your still good. you have two choices...
1. Light skin use your accent color and lay it all over the lid.
2. Darker skin use a golden brown over the half of the eye lid where the dark color will go. A color like this.

its name is tempting.

4. Dark eye shadow. Use the same brush you just applied base 2 with. And put it on as dark as you like, starting in the crease and working your way down.

5. Accent color. To calm it down a little bit make this shadow a lighter version of your dark color. If you wanna be cool use a bright color. Like if your dark is brown....do green or yellow. If it's black....use purple. Play with it.
